“This Ain’t Your Mama’s Crazy Quilt.”
About Barbara Randle
Barbara Randle has transformed the traditional technique of Crazy Quilting into modern, fun pieces for your wardrobe and home. In 2000, she and a small group of friends and sewing enthusiasts formed a sewing group specifically to crazy quilt. Together, they created incredible purses, pillows, throws, tote bags, window treatments, lampshades and more. Currently, through B. Randle Designs, LLC, in Birmingham, Alabama, she offers Crazy Quilting classes for throw pillows, handbag construction, lampshades, and quilts as well as selling her own designs through her website and retail stores.
Barbara was chosen by the Bernina Company to star in their “Portrait of an Artist” ad campaign, is a member of the Bernina National Teachers Association, and has taught at Bernina University. She has had articles in Southern Lady, Threads, and Woman’s Day magazines. Her first book, Crazy Quilting With Attitude is in its fourth printing and has sold over 30,000 copies. Her new book, More Crazy Quilting With Attitude , from Krause Publications, was released August 2005. She also has had her designs published for the McCall Pattern Company under the Vogue brand.
She has recorded TV shows with Nancy Zieman’s Sewing With Nancy using the BabyLock Ellageo Sewing Machine. Additionally she has taped with Sue Hausman’s America Quilts Creatively (PBS), using the Pfaff 2144 Sewing Machine, and Martha Pullen’s Martha’s Sewing Room on PBS using the Bernina 200 Sewing Machine. She has made presentations at the Houston Quilt Market’s Schoolhouse Series to promote her books.
The Birmingham News featured Barbara on the frontpage of their Lifestyle section in September 2003. She and her wonderful and colorful "sew buddies" taught at SAGA’s “Sewing at the Beach” (Myrtle Beach). She has taught classes at sewing machine stores and sewing guilds all over the country. She lectured at Nancy Zieman’s Sewing Weekend Expo, is a regular lecturer and teacher at Martha Pullen’s Schools, taught at the Pfaff International Dealer Convention, Nancy Zieman’s Sewing Workshop in Seattle, and is a regular with Babylock dealers across the U.S. She has taught at Babylock Tech and the American Quilter’s Society Quilt Exposition in Nashville Tennessee.
Barbara designed a unique purse for an article which appeared in the Red Hat Society Lifestyles magazine September/October 2005 issue.
